What I would call a compote, the Wexford catalog lists as “Bowl, 8″, ftd. centerpiece” and at one point listed for $14.00.

While Replacements.com currently lists it for $59.99 (on sale), I’ve found mine most consistently around $5.99.

This is among my favorite pieces for the volume it holds and the height it adds to a buffet setting. I have been collecting Wexford by Anchor Hocking for over a decade, and it started as collecting random thrift store serving platters. Once I noticed the common pattern among the Wexford I had and saw how broad and available, and affordable, the pattern was in thrift stores, I was hooked.
Eventually, I realized that the cranberry tray my mother bought in the mid-80s was a piece of Wexford…
On to the footed centerpiece:

This is not an easily found item. In ten years, I only found two (one with silver-plated scalloped edge) until this past week. The rarity of it makes it hard to resist, so I now own four.

Dimensions:
Height: 7″ (to the top of the scallop)
Width: 8″ (at the scalloped lip)
Foot width: 4.75″

Pattern Details:
Edged detail: scalloped edge
Scallop dimensions: .5″ H x 2″ W
Number of scallops: 12
Large diamond: varies from .375″ to .75″
Small diamond: .25″
Small diamond band width: 1.5″
Starburst diameter: 3.75″
Number of starburst rays: 24
Starburst location: inside bottom of foot
Fluting location: stem of the foot
Number of flutes: 12

Versatility: I have found that the dimensions of this piece make it compatible with the lid of both the covered candy dish and the cookie jar (the latter also having been retooled as the ice bucket). As seen in the first photo, this use makes for a dynamic grouping of those three pieces.
