As far as I can prove, Anchor Hocking produced exactly one piece of Wexford in cobal blue: the cake plate.
And now, we have one.

And it is glorious!

Post-college, I had a thing for cobalt. At least, I wanted to. Sadly, affordable cobalt isn’t typically, well, cobalt. It’s just blue glass…

Eventually, I grew disinterested in the random haphazard cobalt scattered throughout cheap blue glass dishes, and I let it all go.

I’ve mentioned previously that when I started collecting Wexford, I appreciated how prolific and varied the clear “crystal” glass is. The first few colored pieces I found, I dismissed and left behind. (I know! I know! *kick* *kick*)

A few years ago, my husband and I selected a single piece of cobalt glass from his mother’s collection after her death, as a nice remembrance. I enjoy the idea of anchoring that piece to a small bit of our now massive glassware collection.

There is still in me that post-college aged self disappointed that the entirety of Wexford isn’t available in cobalt, but the majority of me is happy to have the one signature piece in such a stunning color.
