the regency continues…

A stunning new piece for the Hollywood Regency setup for the fireplace has arrived.

And it is glorious:

a full-length view of a Hollywood Regency style ashtray stand, featuring ornate brass fixtures, chunky glass accents, glass chandelier baubles, and a large Wexford ashtray by Anchor Hocking.

It makes an excellent addition to the recently arrived pedestal bowl, and our inherited Scales of Justice.

I have coveted a Wexford ashtray stand since my early collecting days, shortly after discovering the measly five pages dedicated to Wexford in Fire-King & More. Gene Florence’s book created as many questions as it answered, but it did offer this:

a page from Fire-King & More, featuring an ashtray stand made from a Wexford whiskey decanter.

I am delighted at how happy I am with the one I found versus my original inspiration: more ornate metal components, faceted crystal baubles, the large Wexford ashtray…

a detail shot of the large Wexford ashtray: a thick chunky pressed glass piece.

I expect to rewire the crystal baubles so they lie more consistently around the stand, but I’m sure I already have everything I need on-hand.

I am approaching my goal of a mantle-wide Hollywood Regency vignette, and I am living for it!
